As I mentioned in an earlier post, another new addition to
my life since we started swinging has been pole dancing. Until recently, I’d
only thought of it as something strippers do in clubs, not something that
normal women can do, even if it is just for themselves, to build
self-confidence and feel sexier. It’s an added bonus that on top of those two
very important results, I feel like I have also become a better dancer and more
aware of the way I move. The classes have been so rewarding and so much fun. I
have been taking them now since the last Wednesday of October in 8-week block
sessions. I’m currently a few sessions into the level 2 block. Throughout all
of my classes, I have walked out each week with more bruises on my arms, legs,
knees, and feet than I would have thought possible, but the only activity I’ve
ever enjoyed more that also gave me bruises was great sex, of course…I’m sure
most of us have walked away with sex injuries from time to time. Right now I
have a spot of rugburn on the top of one of my feet from a session on Mr. C’s
basement floor that still hasn’t healed after two months…but that just means we
were having a great time.
Back to pole dancing…I have enjoyed posting a few status
updates on Facebook when I’ve gone to class. I imagine the reactions from some
of my more conservative friends who think that pole dancing should only be for
strippers. I also imagine the women who secretly wish they were doing it too. I
also love bringing it up on our swinger dates as one of my new hobbies. The
reactions so far have always been a desire to hear more about it. The men definitely
perk up and move in a little closer…and then there are jokes about putting a
pole in my house (probably will happen in the next few months—I think I’ve worn
Mr. X down into agreeing to get me one) and requests or wishes to see me do it.
From the women, I usually hear something like “I’ve always wanted to do that!” During
the first 8 weeks, we learned 4 different basic spins and a dance and spin
routine that incorporated everything from all of the sessions. I walked away
from that block of classes feeling immensely better about myself and looking
forward to more. In this level 2 block
of classes, I now get to wear adorable 5.5 in platform stripper heels. I love
them! They are so comfortable (shockingly) and make me feel amazing. I am
tempted to buy a second and third pair so that I have one set to keep at home
for when I get my own pole there and one pair to wear on swinger dates. The
more we swing, the higher heels I want to wear. I was not much of a shoe person
from the time I graduated from college until recently. Mr. X used to tell me I
wasn’t high maintenance because I didn’t spend tons of money on shoes or
purses. I still don’t buy the crazy expensive high-end designer shoes, but I
shudder to think about how much money I have spent on shoes since we decided to
swing.
Working out in 5.5 in heels is intense, let me tell you.
There is another reason why I am more tired in class now than before, but I’ll
get to that later. However, I love that my class is in a studio with the walls
lined with mirrors. There is a disco ball rotating overhead as well, and the
lights are dimmed…definitely mood lighting designed to make you feel sexy. Our
instructor encourages us to watch ourselves during class instead of her. This
allows us to see how we are moving and to make adjustments so that we look as
sensual as possible. The heels make everything look even better. I highly
recommend that any woman interested in pole dancing should find a studio and
give it a try. I adore it. Our studio also offers special classes from time to
time. Next month they are offering a special lap dancing class right before
Valentine’s day for women who want to spice up their holiday. I may have to
find a way to make it. I’m sure Mr. X would love the results.
